ROCKY CLIFF OR ROCKY LIFE, OUR FATE – PART I

Here I sit upon the rocky cliff
looking down on the tide,
waves crashing on the rocks.
The ebb and flow, sands that shift
Seagulls hover on warm currents of air
Nature all around me
Not a sound, not a care.

Nature just does what it has to do
Spring may be a season in the year
But it brings a sense of caring.
Faith, affection and love, no sign of fear.

Oh how I embrace it,
this feeling of peace,
its meaning of life.
No greed, no waste,
without trouble or strife.

It’s how life began,
all them million years ago
We had nothing,
yet everything,
but we were too foolish to know.

Now we destroy it,
just take, take, take.
Cut down all the trees,
steal its wealth.
Soon there will be no rivers,
forests, or lakes,
and to blame, who?

Only our self

Because we left it up to everyone else.

What will we do without forests,
birds and wild game?
If we ever get it back,
will we treat it the same?

Our gluttonous eyes, our lips, just lies.
Walking around with our false smiles.

Never give, just gather and take.
Heap up in piles for our own selfish sake.
One percent of the money
Hid away in the vaults
That would replenish the world
And repair all our faults

Forests will grow,
rivers and lakes will flow
Fields of flowers,
hill sides of heather
will start the repair of our unusual weather.
Once again, we will determine our fate
And we will have to do it soon
Before it’s too late.

TOO LATE NOW – PART II

I turn on the tap, it’s dry,
I ponder and wonder why,
Then I remember,
we used it all,
we abused it, and I cry.

I look out of my window,
can’t see much, all dirty.
Air pollution getting worse,
bins full of rubbish everywhere.

Remember filters for masks,
UV protection from the rays,
hard to tell the nights from days.
No sunshine, no rain, no time,
everything is the same.
Cars and vans everywhere,
no fuel left,
we used it all,

We can’t drive anywhere
Where is where anyway,
we can’t even go there
Because that’s where we are now.
Remember the hills,
valleys, plains. Forests, fields,
ponds and lakes, even rain.
Sunshine, oceans, clouds, seas of green.

Wildlife, horses, cats and dogs
Some of the things we had,
before we created this existence
Of air pollution,
food and water shortage and smog.

We had it all, we lived life to the full,
plenty of everything in abundance,
It will never happen to us we thought
Then we woke and realised, it had,
we had been caught.

We were told and told,
a thousand times
To mend our ways,
to yield our crimes against our world,
we didn’t heed.
Ignorance and greed everywhere,
did we ever really,
think or care?

Now we just survive, just alive
Why didn’t we do something, when we had the time
